The song remains the same dei Led Zeppelin ha segnato un'epoca.

Esagerato, autoindulgente ma assolutamente trascinante, questo film celebrava la più grande rock band degli anni
'70 all'apice del suo splendore, catturando il celebre concerto al Madison Square Gardens del 1973.

Le scene del concerto sono intervallate da visioni "fantasy" (ad ogni membro della band ne è riservata
una) che oggi appaiono davvero al limite del buon gusto, pur conservando il loro fascino dell'epoca: Jimmy Page si
presenta in veste satanica, John Paul Jones è trasformato nel Fantasma dell'Opera, Robert Plant in un cavaliere
che salva una damigella in pericolo, mentre John Bonham guida la sua Harley chopper.

Le esecuzioni restano le vere protagoniste: la voce di Plant, la chitarra di Page e la sezione ritmica Jones/Bonham
compensano i difetti concettuali del film.

Nonostante sia stato vittima di innumerevoli, visibili problemi in fase di produzione il film rimane un documento
essenziale di una band storica e della sua storica epoca.

L'edizione speciale del 2007, oltre ad avere finalmente anche i sottotitoli in italiano, contiene svariati extra sul
secondo DVD per un totale di oltre 50 minuti, tra cui un'intervista del 1976 alla BBC con Robert Plant e Peter Grant,
scene mai viste prima di Over the hills and far away e Celebration day, bonus performance di Misty mountain hop e The
ocean ed immagini televisive dell'epoca dal Drake Hotel in occasione del concerto di New York.
